Dear community of Foto Colectania,
As you all know, a few days ago we temporarily closed the Foto Colectania space. However, in these exceptional moments that we are all living, we continue to bet on photography. What we do best is to make culture and photography available to society; so in this break of physical activity we are going to give a good boost to our virtual programs so as not to lose the possibility of staying connected with you, because after all, you are the ones who best guide our work and our activity.
The exhibition “DAIDO MORIYAMA: A Diary”, which hangs silently on our walls on Paseo Picasso 14, comes to life on our virtual networks and web. You will be able to meet the Japanese great master of street photography, Hasselblad Prize 2019, through images, videos, texts and testimonies of the photographer himself and the curators Louise Wolthers and Sara Walker, of the Hasselblad Foundation.
In the coming months our COLLECTION will be available to all through the new web platform of the online collection. In advance of it, we will show weekly photographic series of some of the photographers that we have widely represented. In the next few days, you will be able to see their images, read their texts and enjoy their testimonies specifically recorded for Foto Colectania. In addition, there will be live virtual meetings with photographers that you can join freely.
And as we had planned, in the coming weeks we will launch a new installment of the CORRESPONDENCE online dialogue, in which two experts send letters to debate the role of photography and image in contemporary society. Before presenting the new installment, you can take the opportunity to catch up on some of the previous articles such as the correspondence between Marta Gili and George Didi-Huberman, Joan Fontcuberta and Geoffrey Batchen or Remedios Zafra and María Ruido, among many others. You can read them here.
We hope to continue connecting with you in the coming weeks and offer you virtual encounters with photographers, photography stories and everything that makes us closer to you. For more information and news, we encourage you to consult our website, follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and to participate in our conversation with the hashtags #FotoColectaniaEnCasa and #FotoColectaniaVirtual.
If you have any questions, we encourage you to write us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We wish you all the best and lots of encouragement,
Mario Rotllant, President
