DONE 6 | Violence and cuteness

March 17 and 18, 2022

The sixth edition of DONE under the theme Violence and cuteness proposes an exploration of the strange, disturbing and even incomprehensible transformations in contemporary digital visual cultures.

Through presentations, workshops, screenings and image sharing sessions, DONE 6 | Violence and cuteness analyzes the growing importance of vision as an instrument of control, from the overexposure of faces and bodies on networks to the opacity of complex data management systems on a planetary scale.

DONE 6 covers these issues through creative projects or independent research that cross different fields: from examples of sexualization of military propaganda, to routes of radicalization in different fields through memes and poor images, in a time of crisis of stable referents.

The journey of DONE 6 includes what happens behind the scenes of the big social networks and also shows how the human face itself has become a key mechanism of a global infrastructure: an evolution that is part of a long process of creating optical control systems over all forms of life, both human, animal and plant.

Guest curator: Bani Brusadin (curator, teacher and researcher).
This edition counts with the participation of: Noura Tafeche, Eva & Franco Mattes, Joshua Citarella, Roc Herms, Gerard Ortin, Luiza Crosman, Solveig Qu Suess, Anna Engelhardt & Sasha Shestakova.
